Yhangry

I worked as a Full Stack Engineer at Yhangry, a Y Combinator-backed marketplace connecting customers with private chefs across the UK. Working within a small startup team, I developed backend services, customer-facing experiences, and chef tools. Our work supported more than 100% year-on-year growth.

Platform development

I built and maintained core features including lead generation, customer dashboards, messaging, chef tools, and Stripe payment integration. I developed REST APIs using Laravel and MySQL, built administration tools with Laravel Nova, and translated UX/UI designs into responsive interfaces using React, Redux, and Tailwind CSS.

Conversion and customer experience

I led the conversion team, identifying barriers in the customer journey, testing solutions, and measuring their impact. I worked directly with customers and chefs to understand their needs, turning feedback into prototypes and product improvements.

Analytics and experimentation

I implemented Metabase to track key company growth metrics, alongside analytics through Google Analytics and PostHog. I used A/B testing and a test-measure-learn approach to guide improvements, supported by automated end-to-end testing, code reviews, and quality assurance.

Communications and AI

I integrated Customer.io for email communications and improved SMS messaging through Twilio and Bird, significantly reducing messaging costs. I also built tools using OpenAI technologies to help chefs prepare higher-quality responses and quotes.

Team development and delivery

I worked across the development cycle, taking ideas from early prototypes through to production and collaborating with third-party providers. I also mentored placement students and graduates, supporting their technical development and helping them contribute to the team.
